Kurt Vonnegut – Slaughterhouse-Five Or The Children’s Crusade: A Duty-Dance With Death
Creating new, interesting and original story from huge archive of Wiktor’s pictures taken during last ten years of work, that was our big task in this project. After almost a year’s work, we hope that book “Vol.1” gave this amazing, cinematic frames original narration and new meanings. However, dear viewer / reader – it’s up to you – how you read them. As Joanna Kinowska writes in her text: “It is a bit of a déjà-vu, déjà lu. Scenes from films and books, songs from the radio. They’re lurking in the photos’ background waiting to be identified. Waiting for the right moment to be discovered. One might only guess but not hope for one, correct answer. The photographs carry no captions – no one needs them. Signposting is superfluous, it would only restrict viewing. It’s as if in a dream in which everything always begins the ‘usual’ way.”
format: 21 x 28 cm
technique: offset print
cover: hard / swiss type binding
The layout of the book refers to its dynamics – like in a movie or music video – the images fills the whole screen, we used a lot off full-printed spreads. Layout of other parts evokes associations with the roll of negative. The binding we used allows you to unfold the album freely. This book project is quite close to classic book design, but with small “surprises”, we hope to disrupt the habits and expectations, we all have when saying “album”.
